Our progress!

Several years ago I lost over 70 pounds by working out at home with Beachbody workouts and getting my nutrition in check! I learned so much, but life happened and I allowed self-doubt to creep in and I gained weight and some disappointment in myself throughout the past few years.
This year, having more knowledge and experience under my belt, I have dedicated myself to losing 100 pounds, and this time I feel extra support from friends that have decided to set their own personal goals and commit to their own health alongside me! So instead of waiting until I lose weight to help people, I am empowering them by having them complete this challenge alongside me! It is so much more fun going on this journey together!

I asked these challengers to share a brief description of their progress so far! A few of them responded with videos and so here is a compilation video of our videos and progress!
I am so excited for each one of them!
They each have their own personal strengths and struggles, and they continue to push forward!
Watch their progress in the video below!

I have found a passion for personally mentoring people through these home workouts and nutrition programs that have made such great significance and positive difference in my own life! These programs are created by professionals and can be tailored to fit anyone!

I just recieved exciting 80-day Obsession result pictures from another challenger (not in the video). She has given me permission to share her progress pics. She is continuing on with 21-day fix extreme and looking forward  to even more progress! I am so excited for her!

This yer I have been led back to actively coaching others. I find that it keeps me accountable when others are alongside me. Being a coach also allows me to share my experience with others while giving them the tools that have worked for me and so many others!
I am excited to be offering service to a select group of people this coming month! I am limiting it to 8 people this time so we can work closely together to help hold each other accountable!

and we can chat more about your goals!

DIY Sprouts!

I learned about sprouting several years ago and it is SO simple, I wish I had learned sooner! When I finally was brave enough to try them for the first time, I was surprised how much I loved them! Also, the taste is different depending on what 'seed' you use! You can put them in salads, on sandwiches, stir-fry, burritos etc. Some even have the taste of fresh garden peas!

Lentil sprouts taste similar to sugar snap peas, are super cheap to buy, and I LOVE those on my salad! Mung bean sprouts have more of a green bean flavor. Alfalfa sprouts are well-known and can be found in stores. They have a spicier more bitter taste to them. There are many other varieties to try and so many options to choose from! You can even mix them!

First: You take a jar and put about a 1/4 cup washed and rinsed and sorted lentils (you have to pick out the cracked or broken ones because they will sprout first and mold, I guess). Then you take netting (pantyhose or white toole works fine) and put it around the mouth of the jar. Secure it with a rubber band or jar ring.
Then: you soak these beans for 10 hours or so.
Next: use the netting as a strainer to dump out the water but not the beans. You rinse the beans 3 times a day for 2-4 days. after rinsing them, be sure to drain them completely and never let them sit in standing water after the first initial soaking. Store them in a cool, dry, dark place until they are ready to eat.

The coolest part is that when they sprout, it is said that the Vitamin C value increases 600+ percent than before they sprouted! So these sprouts are packed FULL of vitamins and nutrients. This is especially good if you don't have veggies or greens readily available. (If only Anne Frank would have known this, they wouldn't have had to eat only lettuce day after day...) ;)

You can buy prepackaged sprouting seeds, or you can just use dry lentils and mung beans like I did in the picture below! (I will post a sprouting picture once they are ready!)

Let me know what you think when you try them!

Obese Mom finishes 80-day Obsession

It is interesting to think that just a few short months ago I was the heaviest I had ever been and disappointed in myself for giving up and gaining so much weight. I knew what I needed to do, I just didn't think I had the motivation to workout every day and I didn't think I was ready because I have a busy work schedule, am currently taking college classes, have 3 kids to take care of, and chores and other responsibilities. I had thee excuses and more that kept me from making the commitment to exercise every day. After years of putting it off, I finally made a decision and in making that specific decision, I found the determination through wanting more out of life.
I felt like there was a lot that I was missing out on.... like hiking and family adventures because I physically didn't have the strength. I wanted to show my kids that health is a priority, I want to be an inspiration to others that feel like there was no way they could make positive changes, feeling comfortable in my own skin and being proud of myself--- those were all things that I had not experienced in a long time and I missed it!

I have ALWAYS loved swimming and my kids are the same way. I was on the swim team in high school, was a lifeguard and taught swimming lessons, and I love to swim! My kids beg to go and we just don't go as often because I had been so uncomfortable in a swimsuit! We were missing out on one of our favorite things! And it was no one's fault but my own.

I finally took the leap and started Beachbody workouts and nutrition plans, then committed to the 80-day Obsession. Starting out, there were many moves that I could not do, but I tried my best and found that later on in the program I could do MORE and MORE! Seeing myself get stronger is the most empowering feeling ever! Proving to myself that I am capable of anything I set my mind to is a powerful message that I have learned! Realizing that is is never too late to restart and become better and stronger!

I find that because I made this long-term commitment to myself, each day I am feeling more self-love, more confidence and finally feeling stronger. I still have a long way to go, but getting back on track feels amazing and it makes it even more fun when others come to me for help and they do it with me! When you are ready, be sure to reach out to me! Support is key!

This is also an example of how vegan is not a diet. I have been vegan for over 2 years and actually GAINED weight! There are plenty of vegan junk foods! Haha! It is eating the RIGHT healthy foods that matters!
